In his book The Screwtape Letters, C.S. Lewis writes, "No man who says I'm as good as you believes it. He would not say it if he did. ... The claim to equality ... is made only by those who feel themselves to be in some way inferior."
As I drove home this evening I was listening to Shania Twain's "Man! I Feel Like A Woman" while simultaneously thinking deeply. Her celebration of womanhood struck me as curious, and I realized that the only reason she insists that being a woman is good is because it's not already obvious. Everyone already knows that it's great to be a man.

A feat in and of itself.
If someone wrote a song about how cool it is to be a man, it would likely be received as sarcastic or tongue-in-cheek. Taking it seriously would be hard, because it's like saying, "The sky is blue...my favorite!"
An insightful observation. It's a bit sad, isn't it?
